About the Method

A Good Start Reading is based on the same method my mother—a lifelong educator and tutor—has used for decades to help children build strong, lasting reading skills.

It’s also the way I learned to read.

This step-by-step approach was developed through years of real-world experience helping children who were struggling or just starting out. It focuses on foundational phonics skills, confidence-building practice, and consistent, gentle repetition—all designed to help kids feel successful and proud of their progress.

Because my mother could only work with so many students one-on-one, we created this program together as a way to bring her teaching method into more homes.
